DISPATCHES FROM CROATIA: MARCH 09 -- MARCH 16, 2014
Joshua Goode
Aurora-Rhoman Institute of Archaeology and Cultural Relics
During a recent road construction project in the City Center of Zagreb, Croatia workers uncovered several artifacts which defied logical explanation. City authorities contacted the Aurora-Rhoman Institute of Archaeology and Cultural Relics to research these artifacts and determine their historical significance.
The Aurora-Rhoman Institute sent Joshua Goode to Zagreb to investigate.

Arrived safely in Zagreb. Local population is very accommodating - Looking forward to exploring tomorrow.

Began researching possible locations to excavate. After surveying the initial discovery site and interviewing locals about their experiences in the area I have decided that instead of only focusing my efforts on one location I should expand the scope of the project and initiate test digs at multiple locations that appear to have a high potential to yield the artifacts I seek. The site of an old oil pump jack in the area gives me hope of what might lie beneath this city.

Began working at Test Site #1. This is a site that is already 3 meters below ground level. Broke top layer of concrete and within first 10 centimeters began finding pottery shards, glass bottle and a golden Unicorn T-Rex figurine. This was more than I could have hoped for, the figurine is similar to the one I found in Hilmsen, Germany, yet it has a much longer horn that projects from the rear of the cranium instead of the middle as in the Hilmsen Figurine. This suggests that there might have been more diversity in the species than experts believed. Also the placement of the horn towards the rear of the skull might have led to cases of false identification as a mere horned dinosaur instead of the elusive Unicorn T-Rex. Past discoveries in the region will need to be re-investigated.

The authorities are not happy with my initial findings. The idea of artifacts from an American culture here is unsettling. They have denied permits to excavate at several of my planned test sites and then today I returned in the morning to find test site #1 completely filled in and returned to its original state, concrete had even been re-poured over it.
This was a huge setback, especially after the artifacts discovered yesterday, I had high hopes for many additional discoveries at the site. To regain momentum I returned to the construction site where the original discovery was made. I began working in square 22L-68 that is 10 meters directly west of the original find. 20 cm down near the southwest profile I found another two-headed figurine labeled as the previous one--
UAL MOTI NAL ISTRE
-- Tiatilco, Mexico—ca. 700 BC
How strange to find these here. And already labeled! This one has a silver shield attached to its chest with the image of a horned monster skull on it. Both faces of the figurine have war paint on them and a brilliant golden star is attached to its back. I will reflect on the possible reasons for these ‘Mexican’ figures to be here and what the historical significance and how this fits into the time line of the Aurora-Rhoman civilization

Croation television news crew came out to test-site #5 which is in a neighborhood park to interview me and learn more about my findings. There seems to be a lot of interest in these discoveries and the news of what I’m doing and finding is spreading quickly across the city. Amazingly while the news crew was here I had several discoveries and they were able to record what is happening so there can be no disputing the validity of my finds.

Returned to the construction site for one more look before the end of my excavation cycle here. I went to the eastern quadrant to explore square 17b-21. 20cm down I found a 2.5m painted linen scroll. It is remarkable how well preserved and brilliant the colors are. The scroll depicts an amazingly advanced ancient city with architecture that I have never seen before. There are buildings of stone construction yet there are also images that appear to be futuristic technologies. Are these images of what areas of ancient Zagreb looked like? Are these the first images of the ancient Aurora-Rhoman Empire?
I also shared my findings with the public for the first time tonight. They were surprised that such artifacts lie beneath the surface of their city and are surprised that the Aurora-Rhomans were here, they are in a state of disbelief, I will have to continue my research.

A museum official who came to the opening last night invited me to join her for a tour of the museum to discuss my idea more. I was greatly impressed with the museum and the long acknowledged history here, going all the way back to Neanderthals. But although the officials were receptive and welcoming I don’t think they are ready to exhibit my findings that ancient Texans traveled east across the Northern Atlantic ice shelf to follow the great Mastodon Migration of 18,500 BCE.
