Sam England - Anima
Sam England was born in Greenville, Texas in 1988. He is currently pursuing a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from Texas A&M-Commerce. He also serves as president of the Texas A&M University-Commerce Art Club and Co-Director of Crash Collective.
For bunnies & dinosaurs, England evokes myths and symbols of the universal unconscious by cutting out specific positive shapes from his paintings, directing the viewer’s attention toward specific symbols. Using traditional methods of oil painting, he creates a convincing two dimensional space within a three dimensional format, bridging the gap between old and new techniques of viewing and making art. Themes explored include the attraction of opposites and mankind’s relationship to the natural and spiritual worlds. A narrative of the nocturnal world unfolds for the viewer, inhabited with facets of hope and creative energy.
