Willie Baronet
Willie Baronet, Unseen, 2012
Willie Baronet is an artist, professor and life/business coach living in Dallas, TX. In 2011 he graduated with an MFA in Arts & Technology from the University of Texas at Dallas, where he first exhibited artwork related to the issue of homelessness (he has been buying and collecting cardboard signs from the homeless since 1993). His work has been featured in a number of group exhibitions including the 15th Annual “No Dead Artists” at the Jonathan Ferrara Gallery in New Orleans, LA, “INVASIONEN/INVASIONS” at the Galerie Carolyn Heinz in Hamburg, Germany, and the “500XPO 2012” at 500X in Dallas. Willie has also had a solo show called “HOME?” at the Hal Samples Gallery in Dallas as well as several interventionist art performances titled “We are all homeless.” He
is currently a member of the art collectives “In Cooperation With Muscle Nation” and “CircleWerk.”
Willie is the former owner of GroupBaronet (now MasonBaronet), an advertising design firm in Dallas. His design and advertising work has been featured in Communication Arts, Graphis, AIGA Graphic Design Annual, New York Art Directors Annual, The One Show, Print Casebooks, Annual Report Trends, The Type Directors Club Annual and Annual Report Design: A Historical Retrospective 1510-1990, organized by the CooperHewitt National Museum of Design. His print and broadcast work has received numerous medals from the Dallas Advertising League’s Tops Show, the Dallas Society of Visual Communications and the Houston Art Directors Club. In 1999, he was one of the jurors for the prestigious Communication Arts Illustration Annual. Willie was also the Technical Editor for the premier issue of Advertising for Dummies, though reluctant to admit it.
He is currently on the Board of Directors for the Dallas Society of Visual Communications, and the Advisory Board for the DFW chapter of the AIGA. He is a past board member of Despair, Inc., TITAS, and MergeMedia.
Willie is currently teaching at the SMU Temerlin Advertising Institute as a Visiting Executive-in-Residence. He’s taught in the past at TCU, Syracuse University, Texas A&M Commerce, and Brookhaven Community College. He is a 1982 graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
